Alice LaNell Williams

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Alice LaNell Williams, who passed away at the age of 87 on June 22, 2026.

Alice LaNell Williams, known as "Nell" by her friends and family, was a loving mother, spouse, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She devoted her life to her family and found joy in caring for those she loved. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be remembered and cherished forever.

Born on January 4, 1939, in Gorman, Texas, Nell grew up in Gustine, Texas, and attended Gustine schools where she graduated. She married her high school sweetheart, Glynn Dell Adcock, and raised three children in Comanche, Texas.

Nell lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, played Train with friends and was a member of the "13 Club where she played "42 dominos, lunches with "the Courthouse Girls," and created countless treasured memories with family and friends. Nell was responsible for maintaining the Board Church Cemetery in Gustine for numerous years and was instrumental in researching and helping secure a historical marker for the Board Church and Board Church Cemetery.

Along with other positions, Nell worked as County Clerk in the County Judge's Office for 3 years, served as District Clerk in Comanche, Texas, for 22 years before retiring. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends and later worked part-time at the Courthouse, Comanche Housing Authority and Comanche Funeral Home.

Nell Williams is survived by her children, Carma Lee Adcock (Comanche), Tina Lynn Ross and Glenn Ross (Austin), and James Doyle Adcock and Twila Adcock (Gustine); grandchildren Amanda Lee Spruill and Bruce Spruill (Comanche), Douglas Wayne Andrews (Comanche), Tyler Glenn Ross (Austin), Ethan Charles Ross (San Antonio), and Jerrod James Adcock (Colorado Springs); as well as 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Elmer Westmoreland and Ruth Edna (Thompson) Westmoreland; her sister, Bonita Otwell; her spouses, Glynn Dell Adcock, Jim Eben Shaw, and Malcom Junior Williams; her grandchild, Glynn Ray Adcock; and her great-grandchild, Blaine Alan Spruill.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 am at Comanche Funeral Home, located at 411 West Grand Street, Comanche. Viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Comanche Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory and share stories of the remarkable woman she was.

Though she is no longer with us in person, her love, guidance, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
