Allen Evans

December 9, 1951 — August 8, 2025

Allen Lynn Evans, lovingly known as "Lynn," passed away peacefully at home in Hasse, Texas, on Friday, August 8, 2025, with his devoted wife, Cherie, by his side. He fought a long and courageous battle with unwavering strength and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family devotion. A celebration of Lynn's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Comanche Funeral Home, followed by a procession to Sardis Cemetery in Hasse. An honor guard presentation will be held at the cemetery to pay tribute to his service.

Born on December 9, 1951, in Brownwood, Texas, to Arnold and Dorothy Evans, Lynn grew up with a strong sense of loyalty and hard work that carried through his life. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later spent many years on the open road as a truck driver, logging countless miles and memories. He was a talented horse trainer, worked as a dispatcher and supervisor, and even cared for many children at Meemama and Papa's Daycare.

Lynn's greatest joy came from his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who knew him as "Papa." They were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. A true sports enthusiast, Lynn loved watching and talking about the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, he loved playing and watching golf. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He was always ready to share his thoughts-or a good story-with anyone willing to listen. In 2024, he made a profound personal decision to be baptized, a milestone of faith and hope in his life.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Cherie Evans of Hasse; his siblings Doris Williford, Shirley Ryan, and Wanda Clyde and husband Rob, all of Comanche, TX; his children Chris Evans of Corpus Christi TX; Lyndy Evans of Corpus Christi, TX; Allen Lynn Evans Jr. and wife Mandi of Portland, TX; Jake Hodges and wife Jess of Granbury, TX; Robyn Hodges and fiancé Zack Rankin of Stephenville, TX; and Jesse Hodges of Hasse, TX. He was a proud grandfather to Bailey Kurt and husband Seçkin; Andrew, Alexis, and Aubri Evans; Jaden and Tyler Hodges; Haiden, Grayson, and Maverick Holloway; Kaleb Rankin; Andrew and Zack Van Zetten; Kamden Doremus; and Antonio Martinez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. As well as his father-in-law, Barry Clark and lifelong best friend Mickey Howerton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Dorothy Evans; his sister, Ginger Flatt; and his nephew, Chance Avery.

Lynn will be remembered for his love of family, his steadfast spirit, his stories that could light up a room, and his warm, generous heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
