FUNERAL SERVICES: 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Gustine Church of Christ. BURIAL: Allsup Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. LUNCH: Family will have lunch at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Gustine Church of Christ. Dora “Vane” Elms, age 94, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012, in Comanche, Texas. She was born on November 15, 1918, in Mills County, Texas to Lannie O. “Straley” and Joe Bell (Kelso) Allsup. On November 26, 1936, she was united in marriage to Henry LeRoy Elms in Blanket, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1976. For twenty-five years Vane worked as the City Secretary for Gustine. She worked for Dr. L.K. Org in Comanche for two and a half years and Dr. Harry Nyvall in Gustine for five years. For twenty-three years she was a secretary at First State Bank in Gustine and served as secretary for Old Time Fiddlers Association for ten years. Vane taught piano in Gustine and wrote the Gustine School song, which is still used today. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Gustine. She is survived by her granddaughter, Carleen Warren and husband Mark of Kaufman; grandson, Lanny Grimes and wife Michelle of Carrollton; granddaughter, Sarah Nickerson and husband Bobby of Plano; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Roma Louise Menzo, in May, 2012.
