Elton Ray McDonald

May 25, 1935 — Oct 12, 2026

Elton Ray McDonald, age 91, of Comanche, Texas, passed away on October 12, 2026.

Elton was born on May 25, 1935, in Comanche, Texas, to Buster and Valree McDonald. After graduating from Comanche High School, he married the love of his life Benita Ann Morgan on June 23rd, 1955. Together, Elton and Benita shared 71 years of marriage — a life built on faith, commitment, hard work, family, and devotion to one another. After they were married, Elton and Benita moved to Fort Worth, Texas. But after five short years away, they knew it was time to return home to Comanche, where they began farming and built the life and legacy that would bless their family for generations.

Elton was a man of high character, a steward of the land, and a servant of his community. He spent much of his life farming, a calling he took great pride in and approached with dedication, responsibility, and care. His commitment to agriculture and his community was recognized when he was named the State’s Outstanding Young Farmer while in his 20’s. He also served on the Young Farmers Association Board, the Comanche School Board, and the Comanche National Bank Board. In addition, Elton served for several years in the National Guard. He was also a faithful member of Pearl Street Church of Christ in Comanche, Texas.

Elton had a steady presence and caring heart. Whether it was ballgames, stock shows, rodeos, or ordinary everyday moments, Elton showed up to support his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. His family could count on him, and that dependable love became one of the greatest gifts he gave.

Elton is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Benita McDonald; his daughters, Cindi Wyckoff and husband Gary, and Kristi Taylor and husband Randy; his grandchildren, Chris Coleman and wife Lynsey, Kaitlin Aguirre, Tyler Taylor and wife Kylie, Trent Taylor and wife Micah, Jason Wyckoff and wife Cassi, and Dagan Wyckoff; and his great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Corban, and Barrett Coleman, Sloane Aguirre, Tynlie and Brooks Taylor, Hollyn and Lottie Taylor, and Lily Wyckoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Valree McDonald of Comanche, Texas; his brother, Preston Coyce McDonald; and his sisters, Julie DuPriest of Brady, Texas, and Vaudene Pruitt of Mineral Wells, Texas.

Elton will be remembered as a faithful husband, loving father, proud Grandad, devoted great-grandad, hardworking farmer, trusted friend, and man of quiet strength. His legacy of faith, character, humility, and devotion to family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
