Flora MaeBell Kendrick Thornton was born October 29, 1940 to George C. & Jessie Jewel (Fox) Kendrick in Cross Plains, Tx. She passed away August 06, 2025 in Western Hills Nursing Home, where she worked many years as an aide.
She grew up in Rising Star, Texas on a farm. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She loved her roses, gardening, canning, baking, and was known for her homemade rolls and mile high merigne cream pies. She was a very talented seamsress and loved embroidering and word search puzzles.
Flora is survived by her five children, Rodney (Kimberly) Thornton of Millington, TN, Arleta (Russell) Gillette of Comanche, TX, Kevin (Mary) Thornton of Burnet, TX, Darren (Jaque) Thornton of Granite Shoals, TX, and Karen (John) Rogers of Llano, TX; sister, Shirley (Larry) Bowman of Bangs, TX; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George C. and Jessie Jewl Kendrick; brothers, George, Sam and Jimmy; sisters, Dixie, Betty and Ruby; daughter-in-law, Anita Thornton; and beloved mini doxie, Shawna.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in memory of Flora to the Salvation Army P.O. Box 783 Comanche, Texas 76442.
