Frances Elizabeth Williams Hawkins, age 102, of Euless,Texas, formerly of Comanche, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas.
She was born on February 16, 1924 in Comanche, Texas to Virgie Lou (Gore) and Thomas Nelson (Rock) Williams. Frances was a 1941 graduate of Comanche High School, and graduated from Draughon's Business College in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1942 to Gorman Randall Hawkins in Brownwood, Texas. Frances worked at Camp Bowie, a major World War II training facility in Brownwood, Texas, in 1942 when Gorman was drafted into the Army. Shortly thereafter she transferred to a civil service office job at the Brownwood airport, and to another civil service office job with the Fort Worth Quartermaster Depot, which served as a distribution point and supply center for the United States Army during World War II. When Gorman was discharged from the Army, they lived in Fort Worth. Frances began working at the Fort Worth Star Telegram headquarters office. They decided to move back to Comanche in the early 1950s where they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Mercer's Gap area in Comanche County for many years. Later they moved to Euless, where they owned and operated a couple of businesses. After retirement, they moved back to Comanche where they resided for several years and then lived in Burleson for 12 years before moving to Euless. They were members of Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson.
Frances adored her family and everyone always knew they were welcome in her home. She was the most loving, compassionate person with never ending patience. Gorman and Frances celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November 2012.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Hawkins of North Richland Hills, and Mark Hawkins of Euless; one brother, Robert Williams and wife LaRita of Comanche; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gorman Hawkins; parents, Rock & Virgie Williams, and one brother, Johnnie Nelson Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Mercer's Gap Baptist Church with Bro. Ross Ellis officiating. Visitation is at 1:00 pm.
