James Robert Conway

James "Robert" Robert Conway, 73, of Comanche, Texas passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2026.

Robert was born on December 12, 1952, in Gorman, Texas, to James Delton Conway and Opal (Ward) Conway. Growing up, he was proudly ornery and rambunctious sibling to his two brothers and sister, setting the stage for a life full of energy and enthusiasm. For many years, Robert worked dedicatedly as a ranch hand at McCall Ranch, where he took complete care of the ranch and property. Outside of work, he was a true wildlife enthusiast. On any given weekend, you could regularly find him driving his signature blue truck, scouting for deer, hogs, or any animal that caught his eye. His passion for the outdoors created lasting bonds, leading to many memorable hunting trips with his son, brothers, and nephews.

Though a lifelong bachelor, Robert was rich in friendship and never met a stranger. Fondly known as "Tweet" by those closest to him, he brought joy wherever he went. He had a deep love for music and was a fantastic dancer, he was a regular fixture at the Stone Eagle Beer Garden, two-stepping the night away with anyone looking for a great partner. Beneath his fast-talking voice and lively spirit lay an incredibly soft heart - a warmth felt deeply by his friends, family, and his beloved cat, Bitty. Robert's rapid-fire storytelling and unmistakable enthusiasm will live on in the family members who share those exact qualities.

Robert is survived by his son, Freddie Hensel, and wife Julie of Mexia; his brother, Larry Conway, and wife Kathy of Eula; his sister, Darla Conway of Comanche; and his brother Johnny Conway, and wife Wendi of Comanche. he is also survived by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Delton Conway and Opal (Ward) Conway.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2026, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Wisteria Courtyard on the historic Comanche Square - a favorite spot of his later in life. All who loved him are warmly invited to attend and celebrate a life beautifully and vibrantly lived.
