Jared Keith Dukes was born on May 8, 1983, to parents Keith and Shirley Dukes of Comanche, Texas. Jared left this world on March 10, 2026, at the age of 42 at his home in Duster.
Upon graduating from Comanche High School in 2001, he left straight for the panhandle to do what he knew and loved best. Jared was a cowboy to the core, and his family often remarked that he was born in the wrong century. His cowboy resume included years spent at several notable ranches, including the Swenson Ranch in Stamford, Texas. The stories from his years working cattle, training horses and rodeoing could keep you entertained for days.
He returned to Comanche in 2007 after surviving a car accident that should have taken him from us much sooner. But as they say, only the good die young and Jared was too tough to let that take him.
Jared later welcomed two children and passed his love of horses and hard work down to them. His legacy continued with the birth of his grandson in 2024. Jared could be a tough, mean man, but he loved his children and family fiercely. He would, and literally did, fight for them when needed.
He is survived by his parents, Keith and Shirley; children Pepper and Rowdy; grandson Bentley; sisters Sara and her husband Andrew, and Mikayla and her husband Ronnie; and nieces and nephews Lilli, Levi, Jeremy, Duke, Owen, Whitten and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Shorty and Jean, and Stanley and Janice, and uncle Larry.
Visitation will be held at Comanche Funeral Home, Friday, March 13 from 5:00-7:00PM. A graveside service will be held at Nineveh Cemetery in Duster on Saturday, March 14 at 4:00 PM.
