Joyce Dale Copeland

Joyce Dale Copeland, 81, passed away on August 6, 2026, at Western Hills Nursing Home in Comanche, Texas. She was born on December 26, 1944 in Lubbock, TX to Dale and Jean Walker.

Joyce married Clent Copeland in 1970, and together they built a life and family over the course of twenty years. Joyce owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Coleman, Texas, for eight years. Never one to stand still, she later attended cosmetology school and went on to open her own hair salon.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Joyce was a woman of many talents. She was skilled seamstress and an accomplished baker, bringing warmth and joy to those around her handmade creation and homemade cakes. She had a deep love for crafts of all kinds, with a particular fondness for needlepoint. These creative pursuits were more than hobbies for Joyce; they were expressions of love, and the fruits of her work were shared generously with family and friends.

Wherever life took her, Joyce made it a priority to find a church home and become actively involved in her local Baptist church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through seasons of joy and sorrow alike.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Jean Walker; her brother, Kenneth Walker; and two sons, Joe Copeland and Brian Copeland.

She is survived by her son, Chad Copeland; her daughter, Jill Holland and husband John; her daughter-in-law, Mary Copeland (Joe); thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.

Visitation will be held at Comanche Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Taylors Chapel Cemetery in Comanche County.
