Kay Hanson Dudley, age 85, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning April 12, 2026 at her home in Comanche, Texas.
She was born June 6, 1940 to Gaston and Laverne Campbell of DeLeon, Texas.
In 1961 she married Bob Dudley her husband of 53 years. Kay attended Tarleton University and graduated from East Texas State University. She taught school at Zephyr, Texas for 37 years. Many of her students have kept in touch with her throughout the years. Her inspiration for learning and education motivated many students and staff throughout her career.
Kay was a classy lady with impeccable manners , southern charm, and a polished sense of style. She and Bob loved music and dancing passing along that passion to their daughter Kelly. They collected antiques and Kay learned to tolerate his love of auctions.
She was a talented pianist, a wonderful cook, and lover of animals. After retiring Kay donated many hours to the Methodist Church. She and Bob supported many community organizations and their church with quiet and generous hearts.
Kay was a long time member of the Comanche Study Club. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends and remained very active during her later years.
Kay is survived by her precious, daughter Kelly Kay, and her beloved son-in- law, Floyd Wiley Stokes. Her granddogs, Charlie and Lucy, and Bob's one-eyed and weird, "Little Kitty". Her nieces and nephews Leah Dudley, Jolane Chick, Quentin and Ric Dudley along with 14 great nieces and 7 nephews.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Her parents, and her much-loved younger brother, Kerry.
A special thanks to all of Kay's dear friends for their help and support during these last weeks.
