Kenneth Mike Dodd Sr.

Kenneth Mike Dodd Sr., 85, of Comanche, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. Born on May 25, 1940, to Louis C. and Gladys (Ellington) Dodd, Kenneth lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and community.

Kenneth was an extraordinary man whose love for his family came first. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and family gatherings. He liked to stay busy and loved being outside, whether it was yard work or organizing his garage, chopping wood, feeding the fish or watering his yard. He worked hard and at one time, held 3 jobs to provide for his family. His primary career was with the Dallas Firefighters where he retired as Captain after serving 31 years. He served 17 years as President and Chairman of the Board with the Dallas Police and Fire Pension Fund and served as a Trustee on the Midlothian School Board. He never met a stranger and felt his "calling" was to serve others and to be an "encourager" to everyone he came in contact with. He was known for his warm, outgoing personality, musical talent, and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He loved history and spent hours researching his heritage, writing letters and visiting libraries only to confirm that he was an 8th generation Texan and became a member of the Canary Islands Descendents Association, who upon arriving at the Presidio de Bexar in 1731, founded the Villa de San Fernando, now the City of San Antonio.

He was proud of his family. Had a wonderful 59-year marriage to the love of his life, Carol Dickey who passed too soon but was lucky enough to find companionship and married again, to Janette Dunn and they made many wonderful memories during their nearly 5 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Dodd; son, Kenneth M. Dodd Jr. & wife Cindy; daughter, Brenda Carol Dodd Hartson & husband, Glenn; daughter, Deborah Lynn Dodd Powers & husband, Jeff; son, Gregory Louis Dodd and wife, Darlene. Daughter Jana Weidner, son, David Weidner & wife Jennifer.

Grandchildren, Cody Dodd & wife Glenda, Keri Hughes & husband Austin, Lauren Ward & husband Jon, Cameron Martin & husband Ryan, Maegan Fouse & husband Jimmy, Brittany Hester & husband Brady, Mason York & fiancé Kali, Meagan Powers, Ashleigh Martin & husband Sam, Olivia Weidner, and Jenna Weidner.

Great grandchildren: Lilly, Max, Liberty and Memphis Hughes; Chloe and Noah Fouse; Harrison and Charlotte Ward; Sylas Martin; Bowen and Weston Hester; Makayla, Sophie, Richie, Declan, Harper, and Atreus Martin. Jaylen, Tessa, and Maleke Ochoa; Lily Weidner.

Sister in Laws: Elizabeth Dodd, Jean Dodd, and Maedell Dodd and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Carol Dickey; parents, Louis and Gladys Dodd; brothers, Richard Dodd, Roland Dodd, Danny Ray Dodd Sr., and identical twin Keith Dodd Sr.; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Charlene Young.
