Kenneth Mike Dodd Sr.

Kenneth Mike Dodd Sr., 85, of Comanche, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. Born on May 25, 1940, to Louis C. and Gladys (Ellington) Dodd, Kenneth lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and community.

Kenneth was an extraordinary man whose love for his family came first. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was always up for spending time outdoors. For 31 years, he bravely served as a firefighter, earning the respect and admiration of many. He had a reputation for never meeting a stranger, and his warm, outgoing personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He was an 8th generation Texan and a member of the Canary Islands Descendents Association, who upon arriving at the Presidio de Bexar in 1731, founded the Villa de San Fernando, now the City of San Antonio.

On May 11, 2021, Kenneth married his beloved Janette Dunn at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, a joyful occasion that brought them both immense happiness. Though his life was rich with experiences, his heart was truly anchored at home. He had a strong work ethic, often juggling three jobs to provide for his family while also serving on the school board during his children's educational years. He took great pride in his yard, reflecting his dedication and love for his surroundings.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Dodd; son, Kenneth M. Dodd Jr. & wife Cindy; daughter, Brenda Carold Dodd Hartson & husband, Glenn; daughter, Deborah Lynn Dodd Powers & husband, Jeff Powers; daughter, Jana Weidner; son, David Weidner & wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Cody Dodd & wife Glenda, Keri Hughes & husband Austin, Lauren Ward & husband Jon, Cameron Martin & husband Ryan, Maegan Fouse & husband Jimmy, Brittany Hester & husband Brady, Mason York & fiancé Kali, Meagan Powers, Ashleigh Martin & husband Sam, Olivia Weidner, and Jenna Weidner; great grandchildren, Lily Grace Weidner, Lilly Hughes, Max Hughes, Liberty Hughes, Menphis Hughes, Chloe Fouse, Marrison Ward, Sylas Martin, Noah Fouse, Charlotte Ward, Bowen Hester, Weston Hester, Makayla Martin, Sophie Martin, Richie Martin, Declan Martin, Harper Martin, and Atreus Martin; sister in laws, Elizabeth Dodd, Jean Dodd, and Maydell Dodd; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Janice Carol Dodd; parents, Louis and Gladys Dodd; brothers, Richard Dodd, Roland Dodd, Danny Ray Sr., and Keith Dodd; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Charlene Young.
