Lori Best

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Lori Joette Best, who left us on July 24, 2025. She was born on August 15, 1955, to Joseph Madlom and Wilma (Schultz) Madlom in Edgewood, Iowa.

Lori had a special knack for connecting with people-she could make a friend out of anyone in just an hour. Lori was known for her deep love of animals, especially raising her colts and horses. She loved riding in her buggy and enjoying parades, always with a smile that lit up the day.

Her kitchen was a haven of comfort and sweetness, where the aroma of freshly baked cakes welcomed all who visited. She cherished the joy of baking cookies with her grandchildren, turning simple moments into magical memories with all kinds of cookie shapes and sizes. She had a soft spot for M&Ms and never turned down a Route 44 unsweet tea. Lori also had a passion for adventure; whether it was fishing, scavenger hunting for interesting rocks, or boating and tubing on sunny days, she embraced life to the fullest.

One of the fondest memories shared by her grandchild is sitting for hours at the old bridge in Zephyr, simply soaking in the beautiful view together. Coloring was another of her cherished activities, showcasing her creativity and joy for life.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Best; son, Joshua & wife Jessica Sullivan; son, Mitchell & wife Shelby Best; grandchildren, Trent & wife Emma Best, Bayleigh Hicks, Jordan Sullivan, Brayton Holland, Josey Sullivan, & Lawton Best; brother Jeff Madlom; sister, Lesa Madlom.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Madlom and Wilma Madlom; son, Joseph Patrick Sullivan; brother, Larry Madlom; and sister, Lana Pitts.

In honoring her life, we invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Lori's memory. Visitation will be held Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5-7PM at the Comanche Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00AM, at Eastside Baptist Church. Memorials may be made out to Legacy Estate Long Term Care (10133 TX-16, Comanche, TX 76442).
