Monica Fries

Monica Marie Fries entered the gates of heaven on June 6, 2025, in Brownwood, Texas, at the age of 60. Born July 12, 1964, in Minot, North Dakota, Monica lived a bold and determined life, marked by perseverance, love, and a sense of adventure.

Monica was a driven student who graduated from high school and VO-Tech College simultaneously-a testament to her determination and work ethic. She later attended Southwestern University, where she proudly served as a cheerleader, bringing energy and spirit to every game.

Her career path was as unique and varied as she was. Monica worked at Texas Instruments, Volleman Dairy, Gore Feed Mill, and most recently in a gold mine in Alaska, where she remained until her health began to decline.

Awaiting her in heaven are her beloved grandparents and her infant son, whom she carried but never got to hold in this life.

Monica leaves behind her loving parents, Peggy Windebank and Earl McKinney; her siblings Jeff McKinney, Sheri McKinney, and Lori McKinney. Her daughters Catherine Dartez of Knoxville, Tennessee, Amy Goodlander of Durant, Oklahoma, and Christina Arnold of Comanche, Texas. Her legacy continues in her cherished grandchildren: Alex Vaughn Campbell, Evie Kerley, Olivia Arnold, and Cade Arnold-each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her heart.

A celebration of Monica's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Comanche on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Comanche, in honor of Monica's life and faith.

Monica will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. While our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing she is no longer in constant pain and has been made whole again. Her laughter, strength, and spirit live on in those she leaves behind.
