Pamela Hurt

October 26, 1955 — May 3, 2026

Pamela Kay Hurt (Pammie), 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Abilene, Texas. She was born on October 26,1955, in Gorman, Texas to William and Betty Kirkland. She lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

On December 26, 1975, Pammie married Robert Hurt (Poppie) and on February 24, 1979, daughter Elizabeth completed their little family. She was the beloved wife of Poppie and a devoted mother to Elizabeth, both of whom were the center of her world. Pammie's love for her family and friends was evident in everything she did.

2019 was a hard year for the Kirkland/Hurt family. Pammie's dad William passed away in March and Poppie passed away in November. Both Pammie and her mom were both widows in the same year. If that wasn't enough, she had breast cancer and a mastectomy in December of 2019. All of this made Pammie more resilient and courageous than she had ever been.

Pammie dedicated 47 years of her professional life to Comanche National Bank where she served as Assistant Vice President. Her strong work ethic, integrity, and genuine care for others earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.
A woman of deep faith, Pammie was an active member of the Gustine First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She touched countless lives through her teaching, always leading with grace, patience, and a servant's heart.

Pammie was also a very active volunteer with the Gustine Rodeo Club. She looked forward to the yearly rodeo and Homecoming held each Memorial weekend.

In her spare time she loved chasing after Twister and Coy and spending time with her family.

Known by all as one of the sweetest and kindest people they had ever met, Pammie always had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved. Her radiant smile was a constant, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Hurt and her father William Kirkland.

She is survived by daughter Elizabeth Diaz and husband Rudy of Sidney, granddaughter Sydnee Frizzell and husband Cy of Gustine, grandson Twister Diaz of Sidney, great grandson Coy Frizzell of Gustine, mother Betty Kirkland of Gustine, twin sister Pat Denning and husband Randy of Gustine, brother Kyle Kirkland and wife Marlene of Brownwood, friend Buddy Lane of Gustine, grand-dog Latte and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pammie will be remembered for her spirit, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
