Richard L. Ashford

Richard LeRoy Ashford, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Brownwood, TX. Born on June 10, 1939, in Corpus Christi, TX, Richard was the son of James LeRoy Ashford and Grace Bell (Montgomery) Ashford.

He spent his childhood moving around but ultimately found a home in Mullin, TX during his teenage years. Richard served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. On April 9, 1983, Richard married Mary Neita Cottell, the love of his life. Together they created a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Richard is survived by 4 nieces, Brenda Woolsey & husband Carlos, Suerenia Ashford, Kristin Ashford, and Nancy Rogers; and 3 nephews, Kenny Terrell, Jospeh Terrell, and Alvin Terrell; and numerous great nieces & nephews and great great nices and nephews.
