Stephen "Steve" Hennigan

Stephen "Steve" Lawrence Hennigan, 76, of Comanche, Texas passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026.

Steve was born on June 7, 1950, in Haskell, Texas. He married Kimberly Sowle on December 3, 1983, in Comanche, Texas.

Following his graduation from high school, Steve proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. During the Vietnam War, he served as a medic in Guam, providing care and support to his fellow service members. After his military service, Steve continued his commitment to serving others as a reserve deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Department and then rose to become Captain of the department's SWAT team. In addition to his public service, Steve enjoyed a successful career in management.

Steve embraced the cowboy way of life and found great joy in rodeos, horses, and spending time in the roping arena. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he was equally passionate about sports cars and motorcycles. Steve especially enjoyed camping and boating trips with friends and family. He was well known for sitting on his front porch and waving to passersby. In his younger years, Steve loved spending lively weekends with his closest friends, creating memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Steve is survived by his children, Shanna Hennigan of Houston, Texas; Shaylor Hennigan of San Antonio, Texas; Megan Dooley and her husband, Jeff, of Arvada, Colorado; Tyler Hennigan of Comanche, Texas; his brother, Mike Hennigan; and many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his three beloved granddaughters, Kenzie, Shaylie, and Harleigh, who brought him immeasurable joy and were among the greatest blessings of his life.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Hennigan; his mother, Sue Hawkins; his father, Lawrence Hennigan; his sister, Paula Hennigan; and his brothers, Pat Hennigan and Tim Hennigan.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Frieda Maas, the staff at Western Hills Nursing Home, and Solaris Healthcare for their care, compassion, and support.
