Wendell Scroggin

Wendell Scroggin, age 96, passed away on October 19, 2025, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on March 13, 1929, in Ada, Oklahoma to Joel Monroe Scroggin and Rachel (Griffin) Scroggin. Wendell and wife, Mary, settled in Midland, Texas, where they raised daughters Beth Ann, Sharon, and Lisa. Wendell worked as a geophysicist for Cities Service Oil Company for 29 years and another five years as an independent consultant. In his spare time, he enjoyed buying and rebuilding old wrecked cars. He always seemed to have a side project to keep him busy after work and on weekends. He retired to a small farm in De Leon, Texas where he actively raised cows and goats. After selling the farm and moving to Houston, he stayed busy crafting metal oilfield related sculptures. Wendell was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will always be remembered for his humor and knack for storytelling. He was always the life of the party and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters Beth Ann Tracy and husband Patrick, Sharon Ward and husband Donnie, Lisa McCain and husband Jim. He was a proud grandfather to Ramey O'Brien, Wendy Hoffman and husband Kevin, Mary Tracy, Lindsey Reid and husband Chris, Bobby Schuman and wife Rachel, Ryan Schuman and wife Rachel, Ashton Schuman and wife Lacee, Mitchell McCain and wife Amanda, and Alaina Sheridan and husband James. He is also survived by 17 great- grandchildren. Wendell is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Beth Scroggin and his parents Joel Monroe and Rachel (Griffin) Scroggin.
